The Crimson Scholar Residential Mentors and Peer Advisors live in NMSU’s Living Learning Communities and provide a variety of services to residents in their respective communities and across campus. Mentors and Peer Advisors contribute to overall student success by sharing their study skills and knowledge through peer-to-peer support and high-impact academic initiatives throughout campus housing. The Mentors and Peer Advisors are also responsible for developing extra-curricular educational programs for the Living Learning Communities to which they are assigned. This is an exciting opportunity for outstanding students to share their knowledge and skills as well as to develop programs for residence hall students.
Contingent upon available funding, several CSRMs and CSPAs will be hired for the 2013-2014 academic year. CSRMs will be assigned to the Honors Residential Hall; CSPAs will be assigned to other Living Learning Communities in science, humanities, engineering, business, agriculture and education. Both in-state and out-of-state students may apply.
Applications are being accepted for Crimson Scholar Peer Advisors to serve in the following Living Learning Communities:
Applications will continue to be accepted until positions are filled, with a priority application deadline of March 11, 2013 or until filled. All position availability is contingent upon continued funding.
Applicants must arrange for two reference letters to be submitted from faculty and/or professionals who are knowledgeable about their qualifications and academic record. Candidates advancing in the process will be contacted for an interview to be held in March. The selection process for these positions is very competitive, therefore candidates are encouraged to consider applying for multiple positions that fit their interests and qualifications. Each LLC interviews separately, so candidates who apply for a position in more than one LLC may be asked to interview multiple times. If you have questions about the Crimson Scholar Residential Mentors or Peer Advisors Program, please contact Yvonne Flores at email@example.com or 646-2542.
