Honors Ambassadors for the 2017-2018 Academic Year

MISSION OF THE HONORS AMBASSADORS:

Honors Ambassadors seek to serve and represent the Honors College as a public relations and institutional advancement team that supports high academic achievement among students. They promote the ideals of empowered participation and exploration at NMSU, respect of diversity, leadership development and Aggie pride.

Norah Alshadadi -Senior in Human Resources Management                                                                   “I have the passion to make a significant change in this world, and that starts by changing myself for the best every day. I think it is a good opportunity to improve my skills, it will be a good thing to improve my collaboration skills”

Ellyssia DeLayne Forbes -Sophomore in Biology                                                                                         “I believe that education is a gift, and loving it is a blessing, and I wish to share that with those who need it. I believe that my natural passion for education, my drive to work completely through things, and my willingness to learn will help me be successful in the endeavors I would engage in as an Honors Student Ambassador.”

Damin Kendrick -Senior in Information Communication Technology and focus in Astronomy         “I’m hoping that the Honors Ambassador program will put me in a position that will allow me to learn more on how to interact professionally with other people and organizations as well as develop skills to help foster participation at NMSU.”

Jacqueline Kieltyka -Senior in Biochemistry, Genetics and Biotechnology, and Biology:                      “I want to share my experiences and advice with other students, as a means to encourage them to pursue (or continue to pursue) the honors track. I would also like to act as an advocate for the honors programs, as I have fully taken advantage of many of the programs the Honors College has sponsored.”

Katelyn Ann LaPage -Sophomore in Studio Art and Psychology with a minor in Physics                     “I believe working with my peers through a department that emphasizes high academic achievement will further motivate me to become a better student, allow me to help my peers, and foster and hone my leadership skills. I look forward to working with people who process information and problem solve in a different manner than myself and am interested in incorporating new schools of thought with my own.”

Guadalupe Alejandra Ochoa -Junior in Special Education with a minor in Elementary Education       “Through the Honors College Ambassador Team I am hoping to build more professional ties to my peers and to future members of the Honors College at NMSU. I would love to be part of the community that pushes people to their highest potential, like the honors college has pushed me.”

 

 

Requirements to Apply:

  • Ability to uphold the above Mission Statement of the Honors Ambassadors
  • Experience being enrolled in Honors courses
  • Crimson Scholar with a minimum 3.5 G.P.A.
