University Honors and the Honors Certificate
University Honors
This is a four-year sequence of coursework culminating in a senior thesis. It is the more rigorous Honors option and offers more extensive benefits. If you qualify, you may begin the sequence at any time during the freshman or sophomore years by taking Lower-Division Honors Courses. Honors Certificate
Upper-division Honors courses are available to juniors and seniors who have not previously taken Honors courses. You need to successfully complete only two Upper-Division Honors Courses in order to earn an Honors Certificate at graduation.
Grading
You may take Honors courses for a letter grade or under the S/U option. Honors courses are not graded on a different curve from other courses -- grades are based on the quality of the individual student's performance.
