Incoming Freshmen

New Mexico State University offers a number of competitive, merit-based scholarships for talented high school students. Our goal is to support and develop our community of Honors students.

The President's Excellence Scholarship

The President's Excellence Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship available to students at New Mexico State University. It is awarded to new entering freshmen with markedly superior academic ability. Selection is competitive and based on proven academic achievements and extracurricular activities.

To be eligible, student must be N.M. residents and have a N.M. high school deploma or N.M. G.E.D.

• Award: Tuition and Fees and $1,625 per semester
• Additional Benefits: Crimson Scholars status, membership in the Honors College, participation in the PA Scholars Enrichment Program
• Requirements:
  • 3.75 HS GPA and an ACT composite of 28 OR 3.5 HS GPA and an ACT composite of 30.
  • Complete a: Free Application for Federal Student Aud (FAFSA) by March 1st.
• Recommended interview
• Deadline: January 18, 2010
