April Student of the Month | Saud Alriyami

My name is Saud Alriyami. I am from Oman, which is a country in the Middle East. I am a senior student and majoring in industrial engineering in College of Engineering at New Mexico State University. I am very fortunate to have been accepted to NMSU. I chose NMSU for some reasons. The department of industrial engineering offers an excellent curriculum in my major. Also, it is a great university to help students, not only to become successful but also creative in research. I am planning to apply for the Masters program at NMSU after graduation.

I attended a variety of conferences at NMSU, which relate to my engineering filed. The last conference that I attended helped me to meet new people and companies, which was “ 2018 NM TransCon”. This conference is designed for professional engineers and others involved in the transportation, construction or civil engineering industry to receive information on the latest industry trends and technologies. My favorite hobby is soccer, and I always play with my team at NMSU. I won the championship of intramural soccer two times.

I love the Honors College because faculty and staff at the college want you to succeed and offer a lot of support. The Honors College here offers scholarships funds for students, and that helped me to attend some conferences. I always receive the priority registration for classes. I strongly recommend the Honors program for students because of smaller class sizes and the classes are often heavy with rich discussion.

No matter what you decide, you are going to have a great four years if you join the Honors program at NMSU.
