April Student of the Month

Max Roland Ruben – “When you find your passion, pursue perfection in that field.”

I have been at NMSU for almost 4 yrs. I am from Moriarty, NM and my field of study is Biology, with an emphasis in medicine. I enjoy skiing, reading, cooking, and playing table tennis. I am also the President of the NMSU Table Tennis Club. My favorite book is Cutting for Stone by Dr. Abraham Verghese. My favorite place in the world is Cádiz, Spain because the city is so rich in culture, it is right on the Atlantic Coast, and it has some of the freshest seafood/best cuisine in the world. My favorite quote is “To study the phenomena of disease without books is to sail an uncharted sea, while to study books without patients is not to go to sea at all.” -Sir William Osler

My favorite thing about the Honors College is the opportunity it offers students who wish to enhance their education by taking courses that challenge the mind and provoke a hunger for achieving scholarly success. When you find your passion, pursue perfection in that field. Although perfection is unobtainable, you will find yourself fulfilled and flourishing when using this approach. I would recommend the Honors College because it opens students’ minds to knowledge that embodies the human spirit.
