Honors is First-Generation Proud!

In the 2021-2022 Academic School Year, 27.5% of the students at NMSU were First-Generation Students!

What is a First-Generation Student?

A First-Generation Student (First Gen) is a student who comes from a family that has neither parents nor guardians that have a Bachelor's degree or higher. This means that the student is the first in their family or a part of the first generation in their family to attend college and pursue a Bachelor's degree.

First-gen students in the Honors First-Year Seminar volunteered to wear Honors First Gen Proud shirts during the NMSU first-gen celebration week in the Fall of 2021.

Why is Honors First-Generation Proud?

Being a First-Generation Student is something to be proud of. You are a hard worker, a go-getter, a role model, a creator, and an inspiration to your friends, family, and our NMSU community.

The Conroy Honors College is proud of our first-gen students that are achieving academically, not in spite of being first-gen, but because of the resilience and strengths, they bring along with their academic talents.

Our NMSU Honors Program invites driven individuals like YOU to be a part of our honors student body. Join us today and declare honors with your degree program here
