Meet our Ambassadors!
|Abigail Kane: Senior majoring in Genetics & Biotechnology
“Hi, my name is Abby! I was born and raised here in Las Cruces, but I had the opportunity to study abroad in the UK during the fall of 2017. I am an Undergraduate Research Assistant in an immunology lab here on campus and have worked there for three years now. Additionally, I am a tutor for TRiO Student Support Services and tutor courses in genetics, biology, chemistry, and statistics. I love taking classes through the honors college and expanding my horizons through the seminar-style discussions!”
Ellyssia DeLayne Forbes: Senior majoring in Biology and Microbiology with a minor in Human Biology
“I believe that education is a gift, and loving it is a blessing, and I wish to share that with those who need it. I believe that my natural passion for education, my drive to work completely through things, and my willingness to learn will help me be successful in the endeavors I would engage in as an Honors Student Ambassador.”
Katelyn Ann LaPage: Junior majoring in Studio Art and Psychology
“I believe working with my peers through a department that emphasizes high academic achievement will further motivate me to become a better student, allow me to help my peers, and foster and hone my leadership skills. I look forward to working with people who process information and problem solve in a different manner than myself and am interested in incorporating new schools of thought with my own.”
Kaylee Garrison: Senior majoring in Communication Disorders with a minor in Counseling & Educational Psychology and Linguistics
“I find it important to take on challenges that you are unfamiliar with, which is the exact reason I take Honors College courses and became an ambassador. Taking rigorous courses through the Honors College was important in order to help myself grow as an individual throughout my college career. Receiving a quality education is something that I have always wanted to obtain and here at NMSU, I believe I get just that. Being on the Ambassador team is an enormous honor and I want to be able to share my thoughts and ideas with others here at NMSU. I look forward to networking and collaborating with students around campus informing them of all the opportunities that the Honors College has to offer.“
|Kimberly Pestovich: Senior majoring in Chemical Engineering and minoring in Material Engineering, Physics, and Chemistry
“Education is a powerful tool. Each student has the opportunity to take charge of his or her education and tailor it to best explore individual interests and career paths. As an Honors College Ambassador, I want to advocate for the honors programs and inform students of the multitudes of opportunities available to them. I am excited to work in an interdisciplinary community with the other Ambassadors, explore different perspectives, and build new relationships.”
Guadalupe Alejandra Ochoa: Senior majoring in Special Education with a minor in Elementary Education
“Through the Honors College Ambassador Team, I am hoping to build more professional ties to my peers and to future members of the Honors College at NMSU. I would love to be part of the community that pushes people to their highest potential like the honors college has pushed me.”
|Paulina Galarza: Sophmore majoring in Industrial Engineering.
“I believe highly in the power of having an education and constantly acquiring new knowledge. The Honors College has not only helped expand my knowledge but supplied me with a higher education. I believe in sharing this with others with the hope they too aspire to learn more at a higher level and meet others through the opportunities available in the Honors College.”
The Honors Ambassador Application has expired. It will re-open November 30th, 2020.
