Hello everyone! My name is Natalie Padilla and I am a senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. I am from Washington D.C. and decided to study at New Mexico State University because it offers a great agricultural program and NMSU was able to provide me with many useful resources that have helped me throughout my educational career.
Outside of school I enjoy reading books by my favorite author Stephen King, volunteering and working with animals, and I also enjoy traveling during the summer months and experiencing new cultures. I am also a member of the Range Club on campus. My favorite quote is “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” by Mahatma Gandhi. I have been a vegetarian for 7 years now and I am an advocate for the rights of all animals.
My plans for the future include working as a Zookeeper or attending veterinary school and owning my own mobile veterinary clinic where I can provide low income families with little or no charge veterinary services. My future involves improving the lives of animals and taking care of them to the best of my ability. Students who are preparing for their future should not worry if they do not know what career they will pursue as long as they end up doing something they love and believe in.
My favorite thing about the Honors College is that is provides students with many opportunities to apply for scholarships and internships. The Honors College has also provided me with a quiet area to study and to do research which is very important to me. I would recommend the Honors program to other students because it provides essential resources to strive in college and to become a better student overall.
