September’s Student of the Month

My name is Jaymison Miller and I am from Anthony, NM.  I chose to come to school here because it was a great option for the price.  I knew I could get a quality education without the stress of going bankrupt. I am majoring in Counselling and Community Psychology. Here at NMSU I am involved in the Counselling Undergraduate Society and Destino Campus Ministry. After graduating I plan to attend graduate school and then counselling at a professional level, potentially in the field of mental health. Outside of school I enjoy music, listening and playing. My favorite song at the moment is Watercolors by RAND.  I also enjoy rock climbing and pretending to be productive.

My favorite thing about the Honors College is the environment. It is a relaxed and welcoming environment, and the people there are always friendly.  Plus, comfiest couches on campus.  The Honors Program is a unique program which teaches students to take charge of their own education.  One’s contribution to the class determines how much one will actually learn.  This program is also intellectually stimulating, with high-quality professors.  It is well worth the extra time and effort.

My advice to other students consists of two words, time management. Time management allows you to prioritize your most important goals and balance out the fun as well as the necessary stuff to do.
