Our Mission

Mission

The Center aims to get more undergraduates involved in research and creative scholarship. Serving all NMSU students, the Center is a hub for connecting students with faculty mentors and opportunities, posting resources for student researchers, and organizing events to feature student and faculty research, art, and collaborations. Please let us know how the Center can support your journey to discovery. For more information about the Center or to talk about your interests, please contact Dr. Tracey Miller-Tomlinson at tomlin@nmsu.edu.

Why undergraduate research?

Academic and industry leads around the world are citing undergraduate research as early indicators of success. Defined as "an inquiry or investigation conducted by an undergraduate student that makes an original intellectual or creative contribution to the discipline" by the Council for Undergraduate Research, a national nonprofit, undergraduate research and creative activity ignites passion and engages students early on in their education. You can read more about why undergraduate research and creative activity is important in a number of journals and newssources, including the following link from US News.
