Truman Scholarship

Highly competitive, the Truman Scholarship is a national scholarship for college juniors interested in any area of public policy who want to pursue a career in public service.

One of the major components of the application is a 500-word policy proposal that delves deeply into your field of study. Roughly 60 Truman Scholars are chosen annually.
The Truman Foundation identifies aspiring leaders at an important inflection point in their development –when they are college juniors – and recognizes and rewards their commitments to public service careers.
