April 8th, 2pm: Abigail Olvera began her education down I-10 at El Paso Community College and completed it at Yale University. After serving as a Foreign Service Officer in our embassies in Egypt and Senegal, she currently works in the State Department's Bureau of East Asia and Pacific Affairs on the China Desk, focusing on Cybersecurity, Law Enforcement, and Counterterrorism.


April 15th, noon: Walter Quintanilla is a Foreign Service Officer working in the State Department's Bureau of African Affairs. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Walter has served in US embassies in Congo-Brazzaville, Beijing and northern China, and Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He speaks Spanish, French, and Mandarin, and enjoys playing video games, watching soccer, and reading.


April 20, noon: Terrell Jermaine Starr is a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center and a senior reporter at The Root. He has published editorials on Russian affairs in the Washington Post and many other news outlets. He is the founder and host of Black Diplomats, a weekly foreign policy podcast that explores the world via travel, politics, culture, and news from a Black perspective. Terrell served in the Peace Corps in (the country of) Georgia and is a former Fulbright fellow to Ukraine.

April 28th, noon: José Campoy was born in Tucson, Arizona, and grew up in Sonora, Mexico. He is a Foreign Service Officer currently working in the Office of Andean Affairs as Peru desk officer. He has previously served the US in Egypt, Pakistan, the Dominican Republic, and Italy, and has worked on the Office of Afghanistan Affairs in Washington handling NATO issues. José speaks Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Arabic.


Date TBA: Laura Gritz, State Department Diplomat-At-Large for the US Southwest, will offer a detailed description of the Payne, Pickering, and Rangell scholarship programs, which fund your own exploration of international careers!
